Happy New Year! A New Decade to Make and Preserve Our History

Welcome to 2020!  As I reflect on 2019, it was a year of beginnings for Nostalgic Soul Collective.  We relaunched our website, became active with social media, sponsored our first Pop Up and began to share our story and mission to preserve our history; that of the African Diaspora.

In 2020 we look forward to expanding our reach and sharing the knowledge.  In doing so, we want our followers to join us in our mission.

Here are some ideas for consideration.  Add to the list by sharing your thoughts with us in the comments section.

1. Subscribe to one of the many national Black magazines, webpages and networks. such as:  Ebony, Black Enterprise,  O, etc.

2. Begin researching your family history.  There are several sites that can get you started.  The Best Geneology sites for African Americans - https://www.afrigeneas.com/best_sites/

3. Share family stories either orally or in written form. Take notes of your family’s physical health history. Record the information if possible.

4. Make prints of digital family photos. Organize and share them with family and friends.

5. Convert your family Beta/VHS videos to digital media.

6. Collect and save family heirlooms.  If you don’t have any, start with something of your own and pass down to a child, niece, nephew, godchild or grandchild.

7. Create a library of books and documentaries by and about the African Diaspora.  Check out what’s new for 2020.  Books by African Americans.  https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/135386.Forthcoming_Books_for_2020_by_African_Americans
